ARTIST STATEMENT

Katie Stewart is an emerging artist, from the far North Coast of NSW She completed her BFA at the National Art School in 2019, Sydney with a background in Sculpture and Painting.

At the core of Stewart’s Sculpture practice, she has tried to investigate structures of the natural and built world and their impressions on the human form.

Invested in her painting practice, Katie explores scenes of the precarious,  Surreal and forms of rituals connected to nature. 

 

She is recognised through her participation in Sculpture by the Sea for her work “Spilt Imprint” 2019 sponsored by Keane Ceramics and received the Macquarie Bank emerging Artist award on her series “Fisherman” in 2020.
